(An aside, I read all the comments, and try to reply via an email from support @ chromedomesoftware.com – it’s best if you have a question to email me there).

I’ve debated a lot about how to approach this, and really can’t figure out a reasonable solution. I’ve priced Check Off at the lowest price I believe is sustainable to allow for future development of Check Off.

However, if you bought a version of Check Off around the December 2010/January 2011 timeframe (when I acquired it from Second Gear Software), send me an email at support @ chromedomesoftware.com and I will send you a redeem code so you can on the 5.0 version via the App Store.

I’ll update this post when it’s been approved.

I hope this will allow you to get a good feel for Check Off, and decide to purchase it.

I asked her why:

“I do appreciate that, I’m super excited too. Can I ask why? (research) ”

She replied:

“I’m just excited to see what the store has to offer, what apps will be available, how they run, what they can add to my mac hahah”

Some notes:

• She got her Mac from a friend, and he’s told her about the Mac app store.
• She has an iPod touch, so she knows how the app store concept works.

This says to me:

• Young people don’t know about the listings of Mac software on the apple.com website.
• She found out that the app store is coming to the Mac, and is super excited to see what apps are out there for her Mac.
• She already has an iTunes account.

This thing is going to be huge people.. millions of people will be getting the Mac app store tomorrow, and will be looking and purchasing.

Maybe the app stores are what Apple built that North Carolina data center for.

The first one is changing the main table view so that it shows when the actual birthday is, as well as how long it is until their birthday. Check out the screen shot below:

The second update is that I’ve also adjusted the code that creates the person’s image to create larger ones to support the Retina display.

I have a few ideas for the next version, which will be version 2.0. Please leave me a comment if you have something you’d like to see in the next version.

• iOS 4.0 compatible. It supports multitasking, meaning that when you switch back to Birthdays it is exactly where you left off.
• During that switch in we update the list of birthdays from your address book, so the people, dates and times of birthdays are always up-to-date.
• Birthdays now uses local notifications to alert you of someone’s birthday. The date of the birthday you will get a notification at 9am your time. You will also get a  notification 5 days before someone’s birthday, to give you time to consider what you are going to do to help celebrate it.

The previous release to to this one added a group at the beginning of the birthdays table that lists birthdays that happened in the past two weeks.

The whole point of this application is to have a quick way to see which of your friend’s birthdays is coming up and to have an easy way to wish them a happy birthday.

Update: It’s available for sale! It will be a few hours before it is available in all the stores, but that was less than 48 hours turn around for a new application!! Way to go Apple!

Yes, we are still around. We’ve just been very busy working on a new iPhone application – one that has a more broad appeal to users. More details before the end of the year, and hopefully an easy application approval by Apple.

Pregnancy

Our application Pregnancy still sells a small amount every week, we do thank you for the support. We’ve got a few more small things planned for it, but we are going to keep it small and simple. As always, please send any requests to support at chromedomesoftware.com.

Tonight we’ve submitted version 1.1.1 to the application store, with a simple addition – the ability to email the notes you take during the pregnancy to yourself. Basically a form of exporting the data in the application.

It’s the best we can do with no support from Apple for exporting your data from your iPhone or iPod touch.

I expect it will show up by the middle of next week, so keep an eye out for it.. and thanks for your continuing support!

Update: 14 hours later it’s appeared in the store.. great turn around Apple!

So.. thanks for your support so far, we are still around, working on Pregnancy, slowly but surely. We’re in this iPhone development party for the long haul.

And.. we do have some plans for some Macintosh software that hasn’t been done yet, at least the way we’d like it to be done.
